Battery & inverter
The store the optimizer plans around, the hardware it drives, and the running price of what is inside it.
What this is for
- I want EOS Connect to know my battery — how big it is, how fast it charges, how far it may be emptied.
- I want it to actually drive my inverter rather than only advise me.
- I want to know what the energy sitting in the battery cost me, so a discharge decision has a price behind it.
Two settings groups: battery.* describes the store and what it
contains, inverter.* is how EOS Connect talks to the hardware.
The battery itself
Capacity, the charge and discharge limits, and the state of charge the optimizer plans against. These are the numbers every plan is built on, so a capacity that is out by a third makes every decision out by a third.
What your stored energy cost
EOS Connect can track a running price for the energy in the battery, from what it actually paid to put it there — grid energy at that hour's tariff, solar at the export you gave up. Discharging then has a cost to weigh against the current tariff instead of being treated as free. See What your stored energy actually cost in the User Guide for what it is worth in practice.
The inverter
How EOS Connect reaches the hardware, and what it is allowed to ask of it. The control paths themselves — what a charge or discharge command does, and what the API and MQTT expose — are in Controlling the battery.
